BT Pension Scheme: Crown Guarantee
The Trustee of the BT Pension Scheme (BTPS) has issued the attached update on the legal issues surrounding the Crown Guarantee.
The Trustee has called the outcome of the latest hearing “a good result in that it provides further clarity as to the extent of the Crown's obligations for members of the BTPS and it is a very favourable outcome for members”. However, case may be the subject of an appeal.
Openreach Resourcing

BT Group: Update on Changes to Saveshare Rules
BT has been working with HM Revenue & Customs to finalise the details for people retiring from BT and taking their Saveshare options. BT has reached agreement and have communicated the new position to all eligible Saveshare members. If you believe you are eligible and have not received this let us know.
Openreach Work Manager Efficiency Trials – Scotland and South East
There are two trials to be held over the coming weeks. The trials seek to test whether work allocation can be improved by amending a number of provision task times. The new times have been calculated using data from a four week period, which has then been averaged to derive the value to be trialled. In addition to the new task times amended travel times have been calculated using ILM data. These new travel times will be trialled in Scotland only.
BT - Business Travel and Expense Policy
The Company proposal was that in the future any Personal Incidental Expenses (PIES) would need to be receipted up to a maximum of £5 per overnight stay. The Union was able to persuade the Company to exempt Modern Apprentices from this changed requirement. The Union argued that the nature of PIES for Modern Apprentices, especially at training schools, did not lend itself to being able to fully receipt.
